WFO Hard Enduro Series Round 4 will consist of 2 Stages, held at the South Coast Bike Fest in Margate, KZN on the 27 April 2019.

All you Need to know about the Margate WFO Enduro

  • 6h00 – Documentation and Scrutineering. At the  start of Round the houses ( GPS GPS: 30°52’14.3″S 30°21’57.5″) *** GPS to be handed in for loading of the route which you can collect at the start of stage 2
  • 7h30 – All Bikes in Parc Ferme with riders ready to race
  • 7h45- Riders Briefing
  • 8h00 – Racing Stage 1 – Round the Houses: Race of 3 laps with one sighting lap will start at 8h00 in the following class order: 
  1. Open Class
  2. 200 Class
  3. 125 & Senior Classes
  4. Clubmans & WOW
  5. Junior Class 
  • 10h00 – Travel and set up pits at the Start/Finish area at Kwanzimakwe viewpoint ( GPS: 30°57’51.1″S 30°12’26.8″E)
  • 11h00 – Racing stage 2 Start. Lap is approximately 35 km GPS route (limited marking) with a halfway midpoint spectator area for great viewing and entertainment. Number of laps to be determined at riders briefing with all regional classes doing an untimed/sighting lap for their first lap. Clubmans and WOW class will start 15 minutes after the regional classes racing their laps from the start.
  • 11h00 -16h00 – The race will continue between this time where there will a number of entertainment items taking place at the start/finish pits and the halfway point at Kwazolo . 
  • Spectators can travel to Kwazolo spectator point which should take 20 minutes for the 23km trip between the start/finish and the Kwazolo halfway point.
  • Food and refreshments will be on sale at the start/finish
  • 18h00 – Prize giving will take place a the Margate Village Pier Rock stage. Each rider and pit crew will get a passes for the South Coast Bike Fest at Registration

 **Note to riders and crew for Round the Houses : Riders and pit crew are encouraged to park in the designated parking (with security to keep your stuff safe) in Marine drive and take their bike straight to Parc Ferme. There is no pit area at Round The Houses. When completed their race they should load their bikes and head straight to the start of racing stage 2, where the pits for the day will be.Round the house will be much the same as the historic Roof of Africa Round the houses.

Important Information

  1. There will be stampers on Route, if you don’t have a card holder, they will be on sale at Registration. 
  2. Licences will be checked at registration, ensure you have a copy for in your bag while riding.
  3. Proof of payment – Copy on your phone is acceptable – Just in Case!
  4. Scrutineering forms need to be submitted at registration, Scrutineers will be doing their thing at the race on the Saturday. They will be checking that the affirmations indicated on the scrutineering form are in place and that there is compliance with all the requirements of the SSR’s and SR’s, this includes each rider having an environmat to refuel on and a 2.5kg fire extinguisher.
  5. WOW Licences may only be purchased from MSA online. www.msaonlie.co.za WOW riders must provide proof of medical aid membership that is to be kept in the rides bag while competing.  See a MSA’s Presentation: “How to purchase a WOW licence online”. Open in Slides
  6. Refuse bags will be available at registration, if you brought it with you, please take it home with you.
  7. An event evaluation form is to be completed at the end of your race. Please find a form at the sign out table at Race Control on the day.

2.       JURISDICTION:
Held under the General Competition Rules (GCR’s) and Standing Supplementary Regulations (SSR’s) of Motorsport South Africa (MSA), these Supplementary Regulations (SR’s) and final instructions which may be issued to competitors and any relevant MSA Circulars of 2019, which will take precedence to these SR’s.

These regulations must be read and understood by all competitors.

4.       EVENT AND STATUS:

The event will be known as the WFO Margate Hard Enduro and will be Round 4 of the 2019 KZN Regional Enduro Championship.

5.       ELIGIBILITY OF COMPETITORS:

Please refer to Art9 (f) of the 2019 MSA SA National Enduro SSR’s and point 4 in the KZN Enduro SSR’s.

Timing will be done by Race Control. Cost of transponders areR100.00 each, payable at documentation, to Race Control.  These transponders are reusable and will remain the property of the competitors.

 
6.       COMPETITOR CONDUCT

Please refer to Art 25 of the 2019 MSA SA National Enduro SSR’s.

Under no circumstances will competitors or helpers be allowed to ride their machines once they have completed the event.  Failure to adhere to this will result in exclusion from the event. This will be dealt with in an extremely strict manner.

11.  ENTRANT’S LICENCES:
Where the entrant is NOT the rider, an entrant’s licence must be obtained from MSA and submitted at documentation, failing which the Entrant’s name will not be published in the results. Refer to ART 4 of the 2019 MSA SA National Enduro SSR’s.

 

12.  CLASSES:

This is open to competent ENDURO riders who are able to ride a 65cc and 85cc.

 

Specially designed Junior Enduro Track for 65cc and 85cc.

 

If the Junior rider is not a competent ENDURO rider he will need to be accompanied by a CHAPERONE.

There will be 2 cut-off points on the Junior Course that riders not seen to be coping with the route and do not have a chaperone will be stopped and returned back to the pits.

 

The CHAPERONE will need to meet the following requirements:

·         Have a minimum of a MSA 1 DAY WOW License;

·         Pay the entry fee;

·         Register on the day as a CHAPERONE and wear the required BIB;

·         The CHAPERONE may not chaperone more than 2 riders.

WOW Class

 

Open to all persons from the year of their 15th Birthday. Subject to the conditions of point 9 above.

All riders must have completed One lap to be a finisher.

Refer to ART 37 (l) of the 2019 MSA SA National Enduro SSR’s

A rider must be mobile with his motorcycle and cross the finish line in order for the lap to

be counted.

13.  GENERAL RACE INFORMATION:  
         WOW CLASS Riders in this class will be electronically timed for accountability only, therefore a timing tag is required. Timing and results of on the day entries are not guaranteed.

         DOCUMENTATION AND SCRUTINEERING: Refer to Programme of Events above. Self-Scrutineering will apply. Refer to Art 15 of the 2019 MSA SA National Enduro SSR’s.
RIDERS BRIEFING: Refer to Programme of Events above. All riders must be present at the briefing at the stipulated time and venue. The race starts with rider’s briefing. Please refer to Art 26 of the 2019 MSA SA National Enduro SSR’s.
IMPOUND & PARC FERME: ParcFerme will apply, all bikes to be parked in the batches provided.

The prize giving to crown the Margate Enduro Champions will take place on the South Coast Bike Fest Stage at 18h00.

DSP’S AND REFUELLING: It is a condition of entry that every pit has an acceptable Environmental mat and Fire Extinguisher of 2.5 kg’s (Min)

 

There will be a Refuel (for riders who wish to refuel) and Pit Crew support situated at KWAXOLO CAVES.

Pit Crew are able to meet their rider at this point to supply fuel and hydration packs etc.

THIS WILL BE A GPS ROUTE WITH MINIMAL ROUTE MARKING – ONLY THE 65cc and 85cc ROUTE WILL BE MARKED.

 

GPS ‘s are compulsory for all National and WFO Regional Classes in KZN. 

 

Please note below from National Enduro Circular 1 of 2019:

GPS Penalties for a competitor unable to provide race officials with complete data log from GPS (first offence and not race specific): 30 minutes.  Art 39 a (vi) Refer ART. 2 c)

Unable to provide race officials with complete data log from GPS (second offence and not race specific) – Art 39 (b):

TIME BARS: 16h00 or once the lead rider has completed the required number of laps. The time bar is at the discretion of the COC
ROUTE/EVENT DESCRIPTION: Refer to point 7 of the KZN Enduro SSR’s.

 

This race consists of 2 Racing Stages:

 

Stage 1 : Round the Houses at Margate

No Motard or Road type tyres will be permitted for Round the Houses. Tyres for Round the Houses must be “traditional knobbly” type.

 

Stage 2 : Enduro from Kwanzimakwe View Site.

 

Racing Stages 1 and 2 will be used to attain the overall time used for the result of the rider. 

Stage 1 (Round the Houses) will be done per class, number of laps to be determined by the COC.

 

Riders times for Stage 1 will count towards their overall time.

 

The starting positions for Stage 2 will be done on Championship points.

 

If a rider chooses not to do racing Stage 1 they will be given the time for racing Stage 1 as the slowest competitor’s time plus 10 min.

 

THIS WILL BE A GPS ROUTE WITH MINIMAL ROUTE MARKING – ONLY THE 65cc and 85cc ROUTE WILL BE PROPERLY MARKED. 

 

The 65cc and 85cc is a separate track using parts of the Senior track, located near the start/finish at Kwanzimakwe.

 

The COC will decide upon the number of laps to be ridden. Time back for “Pro/Signature sections” of the route completed will be at the discretion of the COC and these decisions will be conveyed to the riders at riders briefing and on the event notice board.

 

The organizers have decided to make the first lap an untimed lap that does not count to the overall result (sighting lap).  This has become necessary due to the terrain that the WFO course is set on to ensure that the COC can make the correct decision with regards to the safety and the number of laps required across all the classes.

 

Riders will be required to complete the required number of laps per class with the first completed lap not being timed for the Regional Classes (ie: your first lap won’t count – your subsequent laps will be used to decide your overall results together with the time from Round the Houses State 1.

 

The race will start early on Saturday from the event site at the Margate  featuring the First racing stage of the Margate Enduro with an urban enduro stage much like the “round the houses” found at the Roof of Africa.

 

Once the first racing stage is completed the riders will then travel to the Second Racing stage start at the KwaNzimakwe Start/Finish area. The hard enduro course will be very different to what riders are used to but has been the training ground for most of the south coast enduro stars.

FINISH AND ROUTE CHECK CONTROL CARDS: These are to be handed in with your Event Evaluation Form.

Please refer to Art 33 of the 2019 MSA SA National Enduro SSR’s.  A missed check point will result in a time penalty to be determined by the COC.  3 missed check points on a lap will result in a 1 lap penalty, this may be varied at the discretion of the COC.

SWEEPS AND RECOVERY: Sweepers go out after cut off.

Recovery is the responsibility of the rider

RESULTS: Refer to Art 42 of the 2019 MSA SA National Enduro SSR’s.

Provisional results to be posted as soon as they are ready

TROPHIES / AWARDS: Awards will be made to the riders placed first to third in their respective classes, Note: All awards will be distributed at prize giving.  Any competitor who is not present shall forfeit all such awards – Refer GCR 280 (iii).
SPECTATOR / SERVICE GUIDES: There will be a Spectator / Pit Crew point situated at KWAXOLO CAVES.  Pit Crew are able to meet their rider at this point to give hydration packs etc.

 

There will be some fun filled entertainment for all spectators at KwaNzimakwe and KwaXolo with demonstrations by South African motorcycle trials’ champions, Bruce and Brent le Riche, as well as Yamaha South Africa’s brand ambassador, Alfred Matamela – AKA King Donut. He will also be hosting his popular Soweto Learn-to-Ride Academy Workshops for up-and-coming riders.

RETIREMENT AND INCIDENT REPORT FORMS: Failure to hand in an Event Evaluation Form as soon as finishing the race, but latest within 30 minutes of respective time bars or as soon as arriving back at racing control will be a Non Finishers Result. If unable to do so, due to being stuck / injured on the route, competitors should phone the COC in the interim.

REFRESHMENTS: There will be catering supplied by the Kwanzimakwe Local Tribal Authority.  SHESA NYMA STYLE

14.  POSTPONEMENT, ABANDONMENT OR CANCELLATION:
The Organisers reserve the right to cancel the event if less than 100 entries have been received by the closing date

The Organisers reserve the right to postpone, abandon or cancel the meeting or any part thereof. In the event of any of the above, the Competitor/Entrant has no right to claim against the Promoter/Organiser in respect of any loss or damage he/she may incur, other than that specified in GCR 244.  The meeting will not be postponed, abandoned or cancelled without the consent of the Clerk of Course in accordance with GCR 152.

 

15.   ADVERTISING:
It is condition of entry that in addition to the advertising referred to in GCR 246, competing motorcycles shall also display the advertising, if any, as stipulated in the Championship and specifications for the class for which the motorcycle is entered.
 
16.   POINTS:
Points will be scored as per Art 7 in the 2019 MSA SA National Enduro SSR’s.
17.   PROTESTS:
All protests and appeals will be dealt with as set out in GCR Appendix R, Parts IX and X.

 

18.   RIGHTS OF THE CLERK OF COURSE:

The Clerk of the Course and/or the Stewarts of the Meeting have the right to call a halt to an event due to “force majeure” for any of the following, but not limited to, reasons:

i)     Extreme weather conditions

ii)    Serious or fatal accident

iii)   Sections of the route being deemed impassable owing to recent extreme weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

iv)   Dangerous circumstances for riders involving spectators or bystanders.

v)    Any other circumstances which the Clerk of the Course, in his sole discretion, deems to be dangerous or prejudicial to competitors.

 
19.   CROSSING OF PUBLIC /DISTRICT ROADS:

As the organizer we have fully acquainted ourselves with Art 20 of the 2019 MSA SA National Enduro SSR’s. We the organizers are also aware and have acquainted ourselves with the provisions of Section 317 of the Road Traffic Act and confirm that the event officials have been made aware of the above section.  By allowing the event to proceed we accept that all requirements are complied with and where applicable all relevant permissions are in place.

 
20.   GENERAL:
Safety Plan for the event will be available from the Race Secretary, as per the requirements of the Safety & Recreation Act 2 of 2010.  Written permissions and Police Clearance Certificate will also be with the race secretary.

Every pit is required to have a Fire Extinguisher of at least 2.5kg capacity.

Every rider is required to use an Environmental Mat when refuelling

Failure to meet these requirements will result in a fine being imposed

Refuse Bags will be available at The Registration Table

Riders are expected to take their refuse bags with them when leaving

Riders to carry rope, whistle, cell phone, Minor Repair Kit, Water, Nutrition and Sun Block.

Helmets are to be worn at all times by any person on a motorcycle that has its engine running.

 

2019 KZN SSR’s rule 10.1 penalties to be amended as per the 2019 MSA National Enduro Penalties 39.a.  Penalties for leaving the route more than the 20 metres will in future be 30 minutes for the first Offence and exclusion for the second offence – PLEASE REFER TO NATIONAL ENDURO CIRCULAR 1 & 2 OF 2019, AS WELL AS KZN REGIONAL ENDURO CIRCULAR 1 OF 2019.

 
21.    DIRECTIONS
